Since you so DON'T want to be living in a socialist country, I'm sure you've already written the gov't and told them you won't be needing to collect your socialist benefits like Social Security and Medicare.
It's funny you mention that. My father-in-law retired wealthy ( evil monstrous, puppy-drowning bastard, I know) and actually tried to tell the government to stop sending him his social security checks because he never cashes them. The people at the government office he contacted were so confused they didn't know what to do, and eventually told him that he had to accept his checks but that he could pay more at tax time as a way to give it back. Believe it or not, there are people who don't wish to live off of other people's money.
I have absolutely no desire to take other people's money to fund my retirement (please, spare me the lectures of how it's mine because I paid in all my working life - that money was spent the second Uncle Sam took it). I am planning for my retirement and when I have enough to live on, then I will retire. Even though the pro-socialism crowd continually tells me they don't exist in America, I have one of those mythical jobs that has a retirement plan, a medical plan, matches donations to my 401k, all the bells and whistles. Funny thing is, I left a job with equally good benefits and salary to take the one I have now, despite everyone continually saying these jobs are non-existent. I have every intention through my own hard work of becoming one of those evil bastards who retires having earned everything he has on his own and not taking a government handout. If I could return my Social Security ponzi scheme checks, I would, but instead I will use them to set up a Roth IRA for my kids so they one day can be evil rich bastards too.
Or are you a man who has principles but won't live by them? Yay, more hostile assumptions rather than rational discourse. \o/ It's almost like you guys get threatened whenever someone doesn't join in on your doom and gloom view of America. I'm doing fine; there are things wrong with America that absolutely need to get fixed but in my opinion America is the best place to live and work and get ahead. if that makes me the enemy or "clueless", then so be it. I'll retire a well-to-do clueless bastard, but at least I'll be a happy one.
