Doom 4 Will Support Oculus Rift

Doom 4 will support the Oculus Rift, John Carmack told Polygon at QuakeCon, saying the once he finishes adding support for the just kickstarted VR headset (which has already surpassed its funding goals) to the upcoming Doom 3: BFG Edition he will get to adding it to the next installment in the shooter series. "I'm excited for once Doom 3 ships, and gets out there, I'll put all this stuff into the Doom 4 platform, which will be nice to take our current top-of-the-line stuff and have that in virtual reality," id Software's Technical Director tells them. "I'm looking forward to doing that."

Carmack's full keynote speech is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt-iVFxgFWk At around the 12 minute mark and beyond he's pretty clear about the non-future of Rage. No Rage 2. I'm sure the 3 defenders of the game are bawling their eyes out before trying to piece together another excuse.
