Gearbox TMs "Shift" - Has Steamy Plans?

The United States Patent and Trademark Office shows a trademark registration for the term "Shift" that was recently filed by Gearbox Software (thanks Kristian). From the looks of it, this is not for a game title, but rather a distribution network, with the implication that the developer is planning its own service in the style of Valve's Steam. Here's the description:

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Computer software for the management, transmission, storage and sharing of computer game programs and electronically stored information across computer networks

IC 042. US 100 101. G & S: Software as a service (SAAS) services featuring software for the management, transmission, storage and sharing of computer game programs and electronically stored information across computer networks

Maybe they're reconsidering the Borderlands 2 steamworks integration? I hope not, the first games MP functionality was absolutely dreadful. Normally I try to be open minded about this stuff but I have to agree with the sentiment that there are more than enough DD outlets already, I have games spanned across several and don't want to spread things out even more.
