And people wonder why lawyers have bad reps? I don't know how half the stuff they do is legal rim shot. Few years ago I bought some property. The prior owner had some liens against him, but for the purpose of selling the property some liens were removed. Fast forward a year, and I get a letter from a law firm saying that since I bought the land, I now owed them the money. Please send a check for roughly $57k and this can be settled out of court. Needless to say, I contacted my title insurance company instead and I never heard from the lawyers again. I hate lawyers. And the Dutch.
