The "do not track" list is voluntary for ad companies, not mandatory, and the agreement is that they'll respect it so long as it's an opt-in option. So Microsoft's idea would have been great for consumers for about a week and then terrible for them when, suddenly, there'd be no such thing as a "do not track" list. |
