Arma III Animations Trailer

The Arma III Website has an update from Bohemia Interactive Studios on the animations in their upcoming military shooter sequel, describing how they are using three optical motion capture systems, including high-end Raptor-4 cameras from Motion Analysis Corp (thanks Slippery_Jim). They offer an interview with Zdeněk Vespalec, talking with the game's animation lead, and offer this trailer showing how this all looks in the game.

I hate to say this, but dumb down the controls. I could never get through some of the training due to how the controls are setup, and I refuse to macguyver my desk for my joystick to fit on it.

Also show me some dialog. I couldn't stomach the horrible dialog in whatever version of Arma I have, let alone the 'Move to.... 1...2....1' commands.

I really would love to get into this series but entry level needs to be smoothed out.

One of the dev interviews I've seen on youtube the dev touched on exactly this issue. He said they are making changes so casual players can get into the game a little easier.

People like that will never like Arma, unless it turns into a childish game like BF3 or MW3.
So this is a very bad move.
Arma really doesnt have complex controls for a real PC game, so I dont get it why anyone would complain about it, unless he has console controller glued to his hands.

While I understand they're going for a 'sim' shooter, there is still no reason for 'simulator' to be synonymous with 'horribly implemented, convoluted, and difficult control scheme and interface'.

Which it isnt. It isnt as smooth and fast as MW3 or your typical shooter, because its completely different gameplay. Other shooters are fast. ArmA has actually pretty slow and realistic gameplay.
Yeah, it needs a few tweaks here and there, but dumbing down? No way.
It actually needs to be even more complex like having moves to climb over a wall, or shoot around corners without looking, etc. Thats also why an addon that adds exactly that is so popular, even in multiplayer.
ACE2 also proved that people want even more realistic gameplay.

Waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.
