Large Address Aware Skyrim

This (not particularly recent) thread on the techPowerUp! Forums offers an application and instructions on how to systems with 3GB of RAM or more to use more memory for Large Address Aware applications. Thanks GamesDot.org, where they note its applicability to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I don't really see the point, when under normal usage Skyrim only gets up to about 1GB of RAM. It's disappointing when I have 12GB of RAM. Then again, Metro 2033 has awesome graphics and I've seen it take as little as 200MB of RAM when in-game - really surprising.

Also, my CPU usage is nowhere near maxed out playing Skyrim - not even on one core. It strikes me that because of the design concessions made for consoles that games simply aren't taking advantage of the hardware available. I mean, we're still not seeing 64bit executables or games that actually take advantage of RAM. Skyrim has incredibly short loading times but I have to think that they could be even shorter if the game stored more assets in RAM.
