No VAC Bans for Dead Island Mods

The Steam Users' Forums points to a tweet from Steam Support replying to mund0x (someone explain how the latter is "verified" but the former isn't) following up on the recently raised question of whether modding Dead Island will earn someone a VAC ban from Steam. The simple question is: "can modding dead island get me vac banned?" The simpler answer is: "No." Thanks Acleacius.

Money is shared, items are not.

And you aren't supposed to let your weapon durability fall below ~75% because then repair costs raise exponentially. If you insist in going wanton with melee weapons, carry around 4-5 of them and swap out when ones durability hits 75%.

Alternatively, and more sensibly, save money by a) throwing weapons (doesn't use durability) or b) stomping frequently. Everybody gets the stomp skill from their combat tree, and an upgraded stomp is awarded (but not mentioned) when you take the last skill in the combat tree. Infected/Walkers can be instantly knocked down with a jump kick, and stomping is a one-hit kill on anything.

Lastly, obviously try to use weapons with a very high durability (and upgrade them). All blunt weapons have very high durability but only machetes and axes (and katanas to a lesser extent) from sharp weapons have reasonable durability.
