Tripwire Interactive announces they are adding three new maps to the multiplayer beta test for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, bringing the number of maps in the testing of their upcoming World War II first-person shooter sequel to six. The maps, Grain Elevator, Red October Factory, and Barracks, go live today, and all three include both Territory and Countdown game modes, while Barracks also supports Firefight mode. The beta is open to anyone who pre-purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game on Steam, and for those who have pre-purchased the vanilla edition, they are also now selling a separate upgrade to the Deluxe Edition for $9.99 USD.

Only thing I agreed with is prone issues, but I imagine this is something they are aware of. "counter strike set in old times" are you serious? The only thing this has to do with Counter-Strike is the single life game mode (which for the attackers is actually multiple lives if their commander respawns them). That mode is one of my favorites because the fear of death makes for some very tense moments. You don't have to play that mode if you don't want to. I for one am glad the beta is closed to non-purchasers because that weeds out the countless hordes of COD fanboys that think this game should be just like COD. I played the game for 12 hours, I hated 11.5 of them and it got worse as I went along. I am a realism tactical shooter fan, but this game is far from exciting. This is beta, and problems and not all content is present, but that's not my fault.. I am not releasing a beta err I mean paid demo 2 weeks before release in crappy state. They are.. and they are charging for it.. so they get a real review.
The game is counter strike set in old times... The play areas on the map are small and have few choices of attack, they want you do fight instantly to encourage mayhem and blitzkrieg effects I guess...
You literally have to follow only a couple of ways to each point on the map, which in some maps mean you are crawling on your belly, or walking in a crouch down a corridor.. This game's problem is your kit... You are limited to what kit you choose to how you play your game.. Unfortunately, your kit means your doomed if you don't have your team playing together.. you get to a choke point, and you have no ability to chuck grenades around corners or provide the suppressive fire you might need to get that camper who is looking down the only hallway you HAVE to get thru.. So what you say, its a team game.. True, but none the less this removes 60% of the fun this game could offer. The rest is the point, lets say you had a squad working together, the maps are just way to small. Other teamates in another squad can get in the way of your squads actions and royally screw everything up. There's nothing you can do about that. Only choice is to play as a full clan of organized play. But that's not gonna happen, as who can have 16 players on all the time when you want to play. Not too mention the maps are so small and linear... By the end of my 10 hour session, I never wanted to experience that same fight over and over (AGAIN).. I literally was bashing my head in hoping for these 3 new maps..
Finally, speed hacks are already apparent and in this game, speed hacks dominate, as being in position first wins the game.. as well as perhaps some wall hacks as some of the famous servers out there, was getting to the point you never even seen the enemies in maps were you only get one life... same names up top time after time.
Finally, the game is just plagued full of problems, from interface buttons not working, in my friends case, he couldn't even see the control screen to be able to play with me... alt - tab kills your mini-map, serious clipping issues, prone issues, I was seeing models in game in corners of walls and they would flip back and forth on the ground wall. To me this game ain't close to launch ready.
