New Carmageddon is Indie Game?

Following the appearance of a countdown timer on Carmageddon.com is a report on VG247 saying the new project will be an independently developed project. This corrects reports that appeared over the weekend saying that Square Enix would be publishing the game as a result of their Eidos acquisition. It is not specified who is developing the game according to their unverified report, which is attributed to a "source familiar with the matter." We should learn more soon enough, as the countdown looks like it will end on June 1.

Carmageddon isn't Planescape Torment or Syndicate. It's a simple formula that should be fairly easy to replicate, so my hopes are pretty high that a new Carmageddon could be as good as the original.

I can't wait 'til the Morality Police get wind of the ultra-realistic pedestrian squishing!
