The Crysis 2 Blog has an official reaction from Crytek to news that a pre-gold build of their upcoming shooter sequel Crysis 2 has leaked onto torrent sites: Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.

You realize the term "fuck you" makes you sound dimwitted, right?
The sole reason corporations exist is to make money for their shareholders.
This doesn't necessarily mean "fuck you," and most that try to "fuck you" end up out of business.
My thinking was that this was an intentional leak, but that it was done by one or more of the devs, NOT the corporate suits in charge
Your use of "corporate suits" also makes you sound dimwitted. Also makes it sound like you've never been inside a corporation, much less a video game company. And you've definitely never had a position of any impact, a "suit" as you call it.
Other than a disgruntled employee, just tell me why this would be an intentional leak. Some here are claiming it's a marketing thing. These people are idiots. I'm just going to throw some things out to you guys:
1) Marketing at EA is more or less the top of the video game marketing game.
2) One of the next steps in the marketing ladder is producer. So a "suit" would be able to jump to actually having creative input if he does his job well.
3) It's a small industry with a short memory. Getting fired for fucking up at one company is usually enough to stop you from getting rehired at another.
4) Yes, Crysis 2 is getting free publicity from this.
a - does it need it?
b - will this publicity be greater than lost sales?
c - assuming you were in marketing, would you be so certain of a and b that you'd risk everything in 1, 2 and 3?
I find it mind-boggling that some of you, and maybe not many but some, are claiming this is a marketing decision.
