Bitmob - The hypersexualization of women damages in-game storytelling.
A male designer and/or a male audience is clearly the reason Rubi looks like she does. Her posture in the promotional material is suspect. Note how her pelvis is pushed slightly out to accentuate her curves. Her tightly wrapped clothes and her weapon holsters add to the effect, and the upward angle of her head makes her neck seem longer and more graceful. The tattoos indicate a target audience in their twenties or early thirties. It seems subtle, but the sexual tension is palpable before you even install the game.

Yeah, there's never unrealistic stylization for male characters in video games. Please.
Someone clearly missed the point of the camera angles forcing the player to view the Miranda in the way that the way the player character would view that character. Miranda is often framed as a piece of meat, because she is genetically engineered to be the perfect hot piece of ass...and any male interacting with her is sometimtes going to fall prey to their baser instincts and view her as such.
Every film, TV show, magazine, or any sort of visual media relies heavily on hyper-reality and outright fantasy...games are no different in this respect. |
