Minecraft Sells 1 Million

As noted in a tweet by Markus "Notch" Persson, indie sandbox sensation Minecraft has now sold over one million copies. The Minecraft Website confirms this, saying: "So far 3171184 people have registered and 1000552 people bought the game." Thanks nin and Saether.

With regard to irony and sarcasm in the interwebz, lets start with some definitions ....
Irony is a rhetorical device, literary technique, or situation in which there is a sharp incongruity or discordance that goes beyond the simple and evident intention of words or actions. Ironic statements (verbal irony) often convey a meaning exactly opposite from their literal meaning. In ironic situations (situational irony), actions often have an effect exactly opposite from what is intended. The discordance of verbal irony is created as a means of communication (as in art or rhetoric). Descriptions or depictions of situational and dramatic ironies, whether in fiction or in non-fiction, serve a communicative function of sharpening or highlighting certain discordant features of reality.
Sarcasm on the other hand is a form of irony used for specific purpose ...
Sarcasm is a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt. Though irony is usually the immediate context most authorities sharply distinguish sarcasm from irony, however others argue that sarcasm may or often does involve irony or employs ambivalence. Sarcasm has been identified as a possible bullying action.
Furthermore, sarcasm is usually identified by the tonal nature of it's use ... something that is quite difficult to identify is a textual medium ...
In English, sarcasm in amateur actors is often telegraphed with kinesic/prosodic cues by speaking more slowly and with a lower pitch. Similarly, Dutch uses a lowered pitch; sometimes to such an extent that the expression is reduced to a mere mumble. But other research shows that there are many ways that real speakers signal sarcastic intentions. One study found that in Cantonese sarcasm is indicated by raising the fundamental frequency of one's voice.
So distinguishing irony from sarcasm on a forum such as this is quite difficult, unless undestanding the authors state of mind at the time or given /sarcasm tags.

Ironically, it is a well known fact that Americans don't understand irony ... they only understand sarcasm (... unless carefully trained otherwise). So (assuming he is American) perhaps Tumbler WAS infact employing sarcasm due to natural racial incompetencies.

That last part was sarcasm, BTW ...
