Another one picking up popularity is the people you see walking around texting. Most of them are doing nothing, it just feels better to fiddle so you look like you have a purpose apparently.

A friend of mine owns a few restaurants and confirmed this to me awhile ago, he said a lot of people sit there doodling or pretending to talk to people while waiting for a date to arrive.
