StarCraft II Patch Plans

PC Gamer hears from Blizzard's Chris Sigaty, as the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty lead producer outlines plans for the upcoming version 1.2 patch for the real-time strategy sequel. Chris discusses balance issues, and explains the goals of their next update, which is "largely our e-sport patch. A couple of big things that will be in there are support for the season rolling, so players can look at the history of how they did in past seasons. There will be bugfixes, balance changes and tweaks, too. Chat is the other major thing we want to get in there next patch. We’ll also add more significant features to the editor."

Yeah, that's been a common complaint. Battle.net 2.0 feels very lifeless, there's no sense of actually being in a community of thousands of other players. Websites like this one can't make a chat room on b.net for people to congregate in and setup matches. Having everything through the Friends list is silly and the Facebook crap turned out to be a bust anyways.

That's why they're adding chat rooms back in, frankly it made little sense to remove them anyways as resource-wise they aren't intensive or costly in the slightest.

The custom maps list needs to be looked at too, the paged functionality is annoying in its current implementation. I don't want to have to click show more 100 times to see the list, just let me have a checkbox that says "auto-expand on refresh" or something. Better yet, build an interface that isn't hard coded to suit people running the game at 800x600.
