Yeah, kxmode is probably right. Jake was chosen to maximize profits. And at least he doesn't have blonde hair. And, yeah, he's got acting chops, although they will most likely be wasted in this movie.
For me personally, it seeing his face transposed on the middle eastern set on which the movie takes place destroys the suspension of disbelief. Just watching the trailer makes me not want to watch it. That, and the over-use of slo-mo.
So I honestly think this was a wasted opportunity. They had the chance to make a truly immersive experience, but instead you get "White folks pretending to be ethnic" again. |
