Blizzard on DRM has some interesting comments from Blizzard's Frank Pearce on the topic of DRM, which he calls a "losing battle." He explains how they are using the new as an incentive to buy the StarCraft II (thanks Joao). "If we've done our job right and implemented in a great way people will want to be connected while they're playing the single player campaign so they can stay connected to their friends on and earn the achievements on," he tells them. "The best approach from our perspective is to make sure that you've got a full-featured platform that people want to play on, where their friends are, where the community is."

This isn't news -- they've announced that online validation would be required to play SP long ago. It sounds like it'll be a one-time check (unlike the UBI method where a hiccup kicks you out of your game) but it's still a pain. Of course, Blizzard is more likely, than UBI IMHO, to change it if it's a problem for a lot of customers.
