On Steam Exchange Rates

Voodoo Extreme points out some discrepancies with U.S./E.U. exchange rates on Steam which seem unfair to European customers, and vary from title to title. Here's an example showing oddities between the cost in dollars, pounds, and euros for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition and Dragon Age Origins - Awakening:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition: $49.99 / €49.99 / £34.99
Real World: $50 = €35 / $50 = £31 / €50 = £43

Dragon Age Origins - Awakening: $39.99 / €29.99 / £19.99
Real World: $40 = €28 / $40 = £24 / €30 = £26

It's not just EA that does it on steam though.
There are a couple of games I simply won't buy because they have jacked up the price here in AU compared to the US price.

I'll happily pay the $50 USD price and suffer some loss on conversion, with a final price of about $60-65 AUD, but when they list games with an $80+ USD price then I simply just dont buy them.

It's a shame that some publishers force these prices onto consumers through services like steam when it's not costing the publisher anything extra at all to provide the product internationally.
Now if they're shipping boxes and paying for front of store retail posters and shit then sure a little extra is fine, but digital downloads? Forget it.
