Arkham Asylum Sells Well

Eidos Interactive announces that over 2.5 million copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum have shipped since the superhero game emerged from the Batcave and headed into stores. "Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the stand-out games this year," says Phil Rogers, CEO of Eidos. "Iíve been following the great reviews and consumer blogs and Iím delighted that gamers everywhere love playing this game as much as we do." The announcement also quotes Martin Tremblay: "The tremendous critical and commercial success of Batman: Arkham Asylum sets a new benchmark for superhero games," says the President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Rocksteady Studios created an excellent game and the sales numbers demonstrate how a powerful franchise fused with high-quality production resonates with consumers."

Story was fine to me. It pushes a bit, as it's throwing so many characters out there, but it worked.

It made no sense.
-Joker sets a "trap" which Batman could have escaped at any time, so what was the point? His plan was also really boring. "Create Mutant army and conquer everything" is a cheesy Mad Scientist plot, not a Joker scheme.

-What was Dr. Young thinking with the Titan formula? How would a super mutating steroid possibly help cure psychiatric patients? And didn't the kidnapping of Bane and draining his blood raise some alarm bells somewhere, even if no one knew Joker was behind it? And she actually took payments into her private bank account and thought it was on the up and up?

-Batman was totally out of character not evacuating 100% of the Island's doctors and guards as soon as the dock area was available. Instead he just lets a ton of people stupidly die. What's more, where was the army to take back the island once they figured out the threat of bombs in Gotham was fake?

-The dialogue sucked too. Way too much machismo with stuff like "They won't see me." or "That's what she thinks." (in response to Ivy setting a trap). That's not Batman, he's supposed to be smart and clever, plans within plans, not just walking into traps just because he's badass.
