If you use Vista or Windows 7, the ATI drivers install without requiring a reboot, and I don't believe they involve a resolution change either.
I haven't noticed my icons moving around since I upgraded to Vista (and now Windows 7) over a year ago. I don't cover my desktop with them, but I still have enough that they have the potential to get rearranged.
The only problem I've had with them is a Windows issue - apparently the icon positions are stored when Windows shuts down properly, not on-the-fly. If you rearrange your icons and you do a forced restart, they will be back the way they were before they were rearranged. |
