I started Psychonauts twice on the Xbox but it never really stuck with me. Never made it terribly far, but the platforming wasn't doing it for me and I never felt like I had a feel for how thw world was laid out, if it was at all.
I actually went with a combination of Far Cry 2 (which I'm already finding annoying just knowing the complaints people here had about malaria, respawning and friendlies shooting), and Monkey Island 2 (which I made it to the end but never finished back in 1993 or 1994 as the family 170MB HDD was full and my parents were demanding I install some college application software for my sister who would go on to never use it. MI2 was the largest program at 11MB and had to go.) I'm finding it irritating to watch Guybrush walk so damn much. Funny, actually, but seeing him walk from one side of an area I want to exit to "path," or seeing him walk the twisting, turning path to Captain Dread's houseboat when NOTHING else is in that screen is infuriating to me. Worse is the audio commentary mocking Ron Gilbert for his insistence upon the game being 40 hours even if it meant having to waste time crisscrossing islands. You succeeded, Ron! As a kid this didn't bug me, but right now I find it drastically limiting my play time. |
