TF2 and Half-Life Updates

Steam announces a couple of new updates are automatically available via the online service. There is a new version of the venerable Half-Life (1) engine addressing a couple of bugs and adding a couple of new server variables. There is also another Team Fortress 2 update that removes a consistency check "for some particle systems that players like to customize."

I've personally never noticed it myself. But I am amazed at this regardless. They updated the Half-Life 1 engine, the first one, The very first one. The same one that games like CS, DoD, They Hunger and USS Darkstar are built on. I cannot think of a single other game company that would even think of updating something this old.

Can you see Epic updating the exploits that exist in the original UT?

This, boys and girls, is why Steam and Valve are excelling where a company like Epic is slowing going the way of the Dodo. Take care of your customers, all of them, and your customers will stay with you.

And don't get me wrong, I have no preferences or fly no flag to any one game or company. I thought I had better edit and add this. I've played them all, UT, Quake and Half-Life, and love them all in each their own ways. But this really impresses the heck out of me.
