Steam News announces a new update is now automatically available for Team Fortress 2, and also that the free Team Fortress 2 weekend is now underway:

A worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend is now under way! Join now, and play the full game for free, including the new content just released in the TF2: Gold Rush Update.

The Free Weekend is open to players around the world, and there is no obligation to purchase to participate; all that is needed is a Steam account to join.

The Free Weekend ends Sunday, May 4th at 1pm PDT.

It really is just a rip-off of Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory but with the game balance and teamplay removed. That's what it sounds like to me but I haven't played it yet. Yes I played back in the Q3 days or whenever it was. Now I play ETPro all the time, shitty graphics and all, the gameplay rocks. Also it sounds like most servers run Friendly Fire Off, which to me is a big no-no as people spam more and aren't as careful and precise as they should be. I can't say that I'm really stoked about it but hopefully the other two games in the orange box are worth it.
