Apple Insider offers a couple of screenshots from the Mac edition of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars (thanks Digg and Ant), saying the think different edition of Splash Damage's teamplay shooter is currently in alpha testing at Aspyr, and is expected to be released in December. Word is: "Since the Mac version remains under active development, AppleInsider won't yet comment on performance of its Alpha preview copy, as it is expected to improve substantially over the next two months. Aspyr does have extensive experience porting id Software's titles to the Mac platform, namely Quake 4 and Doom 3. Those titles perform well, but did not match their Windows counterparts in terms of performance."

It's odd to see this kind of article these days, considering that Intel Macs can now boot Windows natively--since they are *are* Intel PCs, of course. BootCamp, now standard with Leopard OSX, makes the whole process very simple. Apart from wishing to support older, PPC Macs, it seems that these days doing a specific OSX Port of a Windows game makes very little financial sense.
