Out of the Blue

So I watched that World Series of Video Games dealie yesterday. Watching such broadcasts I'm always struck that they seem unconvinced that the games are actually interesting viewing, as they truncate the games to make more time for background stories and other filler. It also seems obvious that, in spite of its popularity, WoW is not the best choice as a spectator sport. Finally, is it necessary to try and take a bite out of the American Idol apple by having judges for the Guitar Hero II competition? I mean, the game does actually feature scoring. Oh well, my failure to appreciate these aspects of the program probably speak to why my career in television ended all those years ago, but in fairness, broadcasting most sports has required years of refinement to get things down pat. Oh yeah, but the chick co-hosting things was pretty impressive… it would not surprise me if she ends up having a very successful career in the media.
