Gold (Candidate) - Battlefield 2142

The Battlefield Website (thanks Frans) has news that Battlefield 2142 is gold, following that up with word that this is actually fool's gold, as the game is still being subjected to final quality assurance testing which must proceed the declaration of a true gold master. So while this announcement in fact only signifies the submission of a gold master candidate, it is still a good indication that the game will be released soon. Here's word:

EA and DICE are pleased to announce that Battlefield 2142 has gone gold. Meaning that after months of internal testing and balancing, the game has been handed over to the quality assurance team for final testing. Congratulations to everyone involved, and a big thank you to everyone involved in the Beta testing.

I'm really hesitant about ET:QW. One of the things I do like about BF series is the capture and hold type gameplay. Where as in ET:QW once you capture a point you can only go forward. In the videos shown from the one map, why shouldn't the strogg be able to push the humans all the way back to their starting base?
I think it's a major part of combat that not only should you capture flags/points/areas but also have to protect them as well. Otherwise you get the kamikazi types that say 'well screw it if I die cause in 2 more second I'll get this spawn point and then I can respawn here and kill the guy who killed me' where as in BF series, you need to capture the point and deal with any baddies around cause if ya don't then all your time spent on capture the point/flag/whatever is wasted.
