I tried to watch a World Cup game yesterday, catching the game between Brazil and Croatia. 44 minutes of kicking the ball in the middle of the field, one goal, and another 45 minutes of kicking the ball in the middle of the field. I was definitely impressed by the abilities demonstrated by many of the players, but I still have trouble figuring out how this is the world's most popular sport.

Because it's simple enough that all the "fans" (Ie, the humongous masses of extreme retards that inhabit this planet) can understand it.

On opening day, British "fans" and German "fans" fought each other in a city where NEITHER TEAM EVEN PLAYS.

Chuck Klosterman said it best when he said (I'm paraphrasing here) that soccer allows the lowest pleebs to temporarily forego their pisspoor social status and act out a mini revolution for 90 minutes.
