A Steam Update (thanks Ant) has word that preloads of SiN Episode 1: Emergence should begin soon. They also mention the coming release of new Counter-Strike: Source models and a new HDR-enabled version of de_dust and plans for a new Day of Defeat: Source map that will introduce a new gameplay type.

As long as the devs give you an option to TURN THE SHIT OFF, what's the big deal?

I mind, since they [Valve] could've used that time to finally support HL2: DM. And I suspect other developers also have to prioritize.
