Out of the Blue

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I imagine the carousing today will be particularly rowdy since it is Friday, so as always, please be careful out there... holidays tend to make traveling more dangerous, and of course this concern is heightened when celebrating centers around the mass consumption of adult beverages.

18. sound problem Mar 17, 2006, 13:44 Pugio

I'd like to ask your guys' help in solving a bit of sound issue with my laptop:

A couple months ago, I bought an external usb soundcard, namely the Audigy 2 NX from Creative (I know, I know; I shouldn't have bothered with them). Now, I've installed all the new drivers and such (and made sure the onboard soundcard on my laptop is disabled) but everytime I play a song, about 3-4 times (depends on the length) the sound will stutter - just a tiny little bit, but after a while it really starts to annoy me.

Now, I've tried playing music with something other than Creative MediaSource (Ok, I guess that's another strike against me) - for instance foobar2000 - but it doesn't solve anything. I'm thinking maybe the soundcard isn't connected at fully usb 2.0 speed (which my laptop does support) - but supposedly creative's newest drivers fixed any usb 2.0 problems. So now I'm wondering if I can force my laptop to use extra buffering on the soundcard - does anyone know how, or have any other/better suggestions?

Edit: I'm also pretty sure it's not my speakers, either; my Logitech Z-something or other work just fine with my regular pc.
