This Egosoft Downloads
Page has the playable demo for X³: Reunion in either English or German,
offering the chance to sample the space exploration and combat sequel. For those
with Starforce-phobia, the page states up front that this copy protection is
indeed present in the demos. Word on the
Egosoft Website is:
"This playable demo walks you through key game concepts in a limited game
universe. Don't imagine that it will all be plain sailing though. The deadly
Kha'ak will be there too and you will have to contend with their presence while
you learn about the other aspects of the game." The English demo is mirrored on
3D Downloads, 3D
Gamers,
FileFront, Gamer's Hell,
and Worthplaying.

It causes problems with a lot of CD/DVD burners, it opens your system up to virus attack, it affects Alt-tabbing out of games, etc. Do me a favor, just for my own information. You just named 3 things that Star-Force affects. Go into detail how each one is affected and give actual examples...not just vague bullett points. Given the extent to which people like yourself claim there are issues then it shouldn't be difficult to come up with extensive info on it. Also, no issues or links to said issues should not be older than the date of the last couple build upgrades.
I'm one of those lucky guys that the program hasn't affected at all. I'm not claiming it isn't causing issues its just that I see a lot of people jumping on the dogpile out of their memory of the 1st couple of builds of the program which did cause havoc with drives. Is it a loud vocal minority or are people still actually having the same problems? I wish someone would find out because having to read the endless fucking whining on threads like this regarding every single copy protected game that comes out really really sucks.
