Can it be? the weather in these parts is only supposed to run up to the low 80s
today, which means it will only be uncomfortably warm, instead of
life-threateningly hot! The good news, because heat waves like this make one
consider the possibility of moving someplace cooler... like the sun!

Once we have methane burning cars - buy shares in Heinz. The best and almost only available sources are in sediment deposits on the ocean floors (in the quantities we need). In fact, the current estimates put it at about twice as much methane hydrate on the ocean floors as all know coal, oil and natural gas reserves.
But uhh….who do you think has all the money, equipment, and mining knowledge and experience to obtain that methane? If you said the oil companies….ding ding ding we have a winner.
Switching to methane will have no effect on the way they do business….it is just another finite resource that takes money and labor to obtain, and they will get the monopoly on it before any other companies who might not be such “asses” in many aspects of business.
If we do not take it from the ocean floor....what other methane resources we have will not last long. Plus, it still produces CO2 as a by product of combustion.
The coolest and “neatest” method of generating energy I have heard of in a long time is generating electricity from the waves in the ocean. http://www.energy.ca.gov/development/oceanenergy/
It is not the ultimate answer, but it could help a lot!
