I've collected a couple of minor bumps and bruises over the years from
accidental knocks from the rock-hard Airedale Terrier skull of Hudson the wonder
dog. My latest doggie-related injury, however, is a bit more annoying. A couple
of weeks ago Hudson accidentally caught me on the side of the throat with the
doggie equivalent of her wrist, providing what must have been a pretty nice
bruise to the side of my Adam's Apple. This was incredibly painful, and a little
poking around shows I am right for feeling lucky that this wasn't worse - in
spite of being cartilage and not bone, it is apparently quite possible to
fracture one's larynx. Anyway, the way I manage to keep reaggravating this in
the simplest ways like talking, sneezing, and moving my head makes me think it
may be quite some time before it clears up. Ow.
