Last time I checked id was still making a game called Quake 4. id is a company that develops is own engines and makes games using those engines. Is that a difficult fact to grasp? from http://quake4.ravengames.com/ ---
Quake IV, like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, is a continuation of a popular id Software franchise which is being developed by a different studio (Raven, in this instance) under the supervision of id itself. No firm date for the launch of the game has yet been set, but it is not expected until Mid '04 at the earliest.
id software is not making Quake 4. id software is supervising the creation of Quake 4. Big difference there. Noone at id is making levels for Quake 4. Noone at id is doing any programming for Quake 4. Noone at id is making textures for Quake 4. If the gameplay is top notch it's because Raven Software made it that way, not id. All id has done the past 10 years is rehash the same tired weapons and techno-satanic atmosphere. They're a one-trick pony and the trick is getting old. Maybe it really is a good time for John to go play with rocketships. Then maybe they can come back and start something fresh.
