More Unreal 3 Licensing

Epic Games announces another licensing deal for the next version of their Unreal engine, as Silicon Knights will be using the Unreal 3 engine for all their future "next-generation" games:

RALEIGH, May 11th, 2005 – Epic Games, one of the world’s leading developers of cutting-edge computer and video games and the pioneer of the award-winning Unreal® Engine, today announced that its Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools will be used exclusively in all next-generation games developed by Silicon Knights.

Silicon Knights best known for creating award winning titles such as Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes will now be utilizing the Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools to deliver its next generation games to fans worldwide. By using the Unreal Engine 3, Silicon Knights believes that it will be able to push the boundaries of games and take them beyond gamers’ wildest expectations.

Because the WON master server is long dead? Actually it isn't. WON master servers are still running since I know of a few games which still use them. However, the WON servers used for Half-Life 1 and its mods have been gone since last fall. This comment was edited on May 12, 07:36.
