Today is Labor Day here in the U.S., as always celebrated by assiduously
avoiding labor... Of course I labor even on labor day, but I did take a break
from the early updates to snag a little extra sack time this weekend. Of course
it's not like I dig ditches, so I am not looking for any sympathy at all.
Meanwhile, I also labored (as I also labor this analogy) on my noisy PC
yesterday, by replacing the stock AMD heatsink/fan with an aftermarket cooler
that features a larger fan that tops out at 2000-something RPM. It's running a
degree ort two cooler than before, and a great deal quieter at its loudest, so I
am pleased that this mission is accomplished. And to step into a hornet's nest
from the forums here, I guess I need to fess up as to my thermal compound
technique... apologies to the bead and squish crowd, but I am another of those
careful spreaders, though I use a card edge, rather than some of the other
implements of choice like toothpicks.
