It still looks awesome. No negativity here...
Come on people... so the game slipped and is a year later then originally intended. So what it was most likely not ready for prime time last year. The source code and game was stolen.. . it happened... the idiots were caught. Valve moved on and spent most of the last twelve months polishing the game. It looks great... how good is an opinion. To me it looks every bit as good as Doom3, better even. Because I agree it all comes down to game play.
Valve worked some four or more years on HL2 before they even made any media release concerning it. If you think the game won't be worth buying you will be in the minority. Just like the few who complain about D3 not being this or that... who cares what they think. I am enjoying the game immensely. But then I didn't expect the game-box to hold the answer to world hunger or a coupon for a free blowjob. I expected a scary cool game and that is what I am playing. I also figure it would be a lot like the previous id titles. They even said that it was more or less a remake of Doom not an extension of the story. Well they delivered and then some. The game has ten times the story of all their other games combined and though a bit linear has the best horror game atmosphere to date.
So in a few weeks when we are all playing HL2 and D3 mods and maps we can all be happy and enjoy ourselves until Stalker comes out. The rest of you who like to bitch about everything will still be here bitching about everything but hey... only you can change that.
