With DOOM 3 just
around the corner, my concerns grow that my rig will not be up to the task of
adequately running the game. As much as I hate to be a cliché, I'm guessing I'll
end up falling into the category of people who will have to upgrade for the
game, though I think I will see how things work on my current machine before
making any decisons in this regard, but I'm thinking I'm gonna be in the sub 25
FPS range.

Had to add my to cents to the Bond debate. I liked Brosnan quite a bit as Bond but with the exception of Goldeneye the films he was in utterly sucked. Goldeneye was at it's best during the first ten minutes, there's a shot where Brosnan is peeking around a corner with his pistol at the ready and you get an up close shot of a completely emotionless, steely eye. That is what Bond's eyes look like, as much as I liked Sean Connery he always had a friendly twinkle in his eyes which is totally non-Bond. When Alec gets "killed" Bond reduces the timers on the bombs, he figures that he's going to die but he is going to make damn sure the mission is accomplished, classic Bond. Of the Connery films I liked From Russia with Love the best but my all time favorite Bond scene is from Dr. No, at one point Bond realizes that during the night an assasin will come for him so stuffs some clothing into his bed to make it look like he is sleeping then he sits himself down so he'll have a clear shot of the assasin as he comes through the door. He then pours a drink and waits all night for the assasin to come, when the assasin comes he kills him. That is the sort of the thing that defines the Bond character for me.
As for who should play the next Bond I'm of the opinion it should be Ewan MacGregor, he's Scottish (like Bond), he has dark hair and blue eyes (again like Bond), he can act and he can look tough. Here's a promotional shot from some romantic comedy he was in a few years ago:

When I read the Bond novels thats what James Bond looks like.
