Out of the Blue

Things were acting a little flaky on the forums last week, but with the invaluable assistance of Frans and Bagpuss we've done a little tweaking (or un-tweaking to be more precise) that I think has addressed the problems folks were encountering while trying to make or edit posts. Please let me know if you are still encountering problems with this. Meanwhile, thanks again Frans and Bagpuss!

33. Re: Upgrading my comp. Jul 25, 2004, 17:55 VT Hoodlum

Also, on a semi-related note: Right now I'm running my sound off of the nforce 2 audio chip that's on my motherboard. Sound quality seems pretty good, but I've been thinking of getting a sound card. That's definitely way off, after the video card, cpu, and ram, but I was wondering if the money spent on an Audigy 2 is worth it.

I don't do much soundwise except for gaming or listening to music. I don't do any mixing, and the audigy 2's millions of inputs wouldn't really be of much use to me. Basically, I guess my question is that is there any point to having a sound card when you've got pretty good onboard audio to begin with? Does onboard audio have any hidden penalties if sound quality doesn't appear to suffer?
