Doom 3 due
April 15 on GameSpot reveals what they call the "official," albeit still not
officially announced ship date for the PC version of id Software's shooter
sequel, attributing this information to an insider at Activision. There is,
however, a bit of uncertainty to the use of "may" in the statement "GameSpot
learned that Activision may be planning to ship the PC Doom 3 on April 15," and
id Software has long held "when it's done" as the release date for all their
projects. They also report the release date for the Xbox version is not certain
yet. Update: This story has been subsequently pulled without further explanation.

Well it’s a game. The original doom’s idea wasn’t scary either when you think of it. It was also based on Mars or a moon on Mars. There were flying skulls and chainsaws in that game too. Actually, when it comes right down to it, animating the dead is just plain silly. But that’s not the point. You’ll get out of this game exactly how far you are willing to submit yourself to it. If you say, walking spider-heads are stupid and I’m not going to like it, then you won’t, and you’ve ruined a lot of the enjoyment you could have had if you would just suspend your disbelief and enjoy it for what it is, a work of art, instead of insisting on realism.
I mean what game is really realistic at all? It’s always like a movie in the respect that you can’t die. And if you think tapping keys and moving a mouse around is a simulation of a gun, I can sell you Nevada.
You get what you are willing to accept from any art. If you listen to these assholes who disrespect the game the ideas from the company that brought us every FPS we’ve ever played (they are the father of FPS) then you’re just selling yourself short by listening to fools. When someone like Penny Arcade plays Doom3 & he’s yawning and scratching his ass, you’ll think this guy is totally missing the whole point of gaming. When you see me trying to physically dodge bullets by moving my head and trying to peek around corners by moving to different angles of view to the monitor, when you see me jump in my seat and lose control of the mouse and say, “Oh shit that scared the fuck out of me”, and start laughing, then who’s really enjoying the game???? Is it me or some fucktard trying to look smart in front of other people?
When I get this game, I'm gonna only play it at night. I'm gonna only play it loud. I'm gonna only play on the higher difficulty settings. Because I wanna feel how it is to play what ID has offered, not be the first schmuck to rush through it & miss what was really important, the GAME. No cheat-codes for me. I want to be scared. I want the thrill. I'm playing this game right & that's the way I always play. It's a game, enjoy it! You get *ONE* time to really have it brand new. It will never be the same after that. Enjoy it! Don't let other fuckers mess up your fun. They suck! Assholes wouldn't know fun if 5 hookers tied him down & showed him what sex really meant. He'd probably find something that he didn't like about it. I couldn't sleep with the redhead enough. Always something. Always.
