Half-Life 2 in Summer at Soonest

Half-Life 2 gets a new release date on CNN Money doesn't actually fulfill the promise in its own headline of a definitive release date for Half-Life 2, though they do quote Valve's Doug Lombardi in saying that Valve is currently "targeting this summer for the completion" of their eagerly anticipated shooter sequel. The article summarizes the Source-engine source code theft that contributed to this situation, and goes on to quote Troika's Jason Anderson as saying that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is likewise delayed, reporting that the upcoming vampire-themed RPG that uses the same technology is now expected no sooner than Spring 2005, after originally being slated for a 2004 release (they also predict the announcement below).

These developers need to take a clue from Blizzard with what they have done. It is done when it's done, period. No release dates set in stone, anything on the net is pure speculation. This keeps the customer happy, with the fact that they know they will get a "done" game. When you see a "gold" message here on blues, that's when the suprise sets in. I like that kind of thing, I don't like walking in to EB, finding out that the game is due out Sept. 30th, and go there only to find out it was pushed to April, and now back until Q3/4.

This may just be a game to some people, but for a lot of us it is a hobby, and playing HL is getting old. We've been waiting awhile for this game.

Quite frankly, I'm not too concerned with Doom3, because in the end it will come out and kick ass, because it is id.
