Dungeon Siege Movie Planned

Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege Goes Hollywood is the press release announcing that a move based on the hack-and-slash RPG action of Dungeon Siege is in the planning stages. Here's a bit: "Vierte Boll Kino Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. KG (Boll KG) (www.boll-kg.de) and Gas Powered Games have joined forces to bring the popular action/fantasy video game 'Dungeon Siege' to the silver screen. Boll KG, the production company responsible for several film adaptations of video games including 'BloodRayne,' 'Alone in the Dark' and 'House of the Dead,' recently purchased the theatrical and merchandise rights for 'Dungeon Siege.' Executive producer and director Dr. Uwe Boll, expects to begin filming 'Dungeon Siege' in late 2004, and estimates a budget in the $50 million range. Interactive Film Sales International will handle the foreign rights sales for the production (www.InteractiveFilmSales.com). Boll's 'House of the Dead,' released by Artisan Entertainment in North America, is presently screening in more than 1500 theatres."

It's Uwe Boll. He isn't a filmmaker, he is a scam artist. He buys up the license to anything which might have a niche audience, agressively promotes it to german investors, then finds some poor shmuck to write up a script for about $1,000 or less (usually someone that works for the company that he bought the license from) and makes a movie loosely based on that script up in Canada. Since he spends no more than $5 mil per film, one good opening weekend is enough to break even. It if does better than break even, well, that's one more thing to add to the list when getting investors for his next project.

Anything with his name on it should be avoided at all costs.
