A couple of mainstream articles on the Half-Life 2 source code leak have
appeared on New
Scientist (thanks Mr.Skull) and CNET
News.com (thanks Mike Martinez). Neither of those do much other than rehash
the situation, but Vivendi's
"Half Life II" game delayed by code theft on Reuters (thanks Brett
Hopkins) has the first indications of how the fallout from this is impacting the
game's release, (though this is not directly from Valve, so if the pattern
that's been established continues, we expect this is not the last word on the
topic). Here's the quote that suggests the new release date has been delayed
until at least April 2004: Update: Half-Life Source (ironically titled, under the circumstances) has their report based on visiting Valve saying that "only a SMALL PORTION" of the source has been stolen, and an email they attribute to "Mike Thompson who says he works for Vivendi Universal" saying "delay is not confirmed..." Did I mention this might not be the last word on this subject?
