I find it hard to believe that during the development of this game that anyone involved thought, "WOW this game is gonna rock". The looping opening to the game that is nothing more than an advertisment is pathetic. The piss poor performance on the best hardware, the player models have such high polycounts, but even close up don't look as good as UT2K3 (another example of pathetic).
Ok, Its a singleplayer only game... Well wheres the content or effort to support the single player experiance. Reflecting back to over hyped games, DAIKATANA was a better effort and value than this pile of poo, hell it even had co-op.
50bucks!!!, This game...er tech demo, is hardly worth 20$ I have never regretted a game purchace more than this one! Yes, its my fault for not reading the reviews and waiting to see the outcome that would or should be the the biggest disapointment in recent gaming history (for myself anyhow).
Many times playing the first Unreal, I was blown away by the scale and scope of the surroundings, but sadly not by U2. (not even close).
The name Unreal has a major blimish which is U2. If nothing else, this game has tought me a valuble lesson, and I will not make a mistake like this again.
Yes, I installed the patch, I noticed no improvement or anything that was worth the wait or my 50$. I started a new game, chose to go back to the ship vs's going to training. Walked out the door, down the stairs to the overlook of the level...and jumped off! Falling to my death, then dropped console and typed EXIT!!!!
Also, most games once their time has come and gone remove the CD check (ie: 1st unreal, UT, Q2-3 etc...). This game has run its course IMO, for me to dig for the CD just to retest this game and patch was a waste of time. For a over 2gig install, this game is a joke on me and my wallet...waste of hard drive space.
I believe PCGAMER said it best in their review, quote from April 2003 issue: I can only hope that the mod community latches onto Unreal2. Maybe in the hands of the truly inspired, this high quality toolkit can be molded into a classic.
***lots and lots of misspelled words and grammer***
