Game
programmers survive the Storm on DallasNews.com (thanks J. Simms and David
Hall) details how Monkeystone Games' John Romero and Tom Hall "will be
instructing computer science majors at the University of Texas at Dallas on the
finer points of game programming and design," in a course slated to begin
with this year's fall semester. Though inexplicably tagging the ever-accessible
Romero as "standoffish," the article does a pretty good job of
chronicling the rise and fall of ION Storm and the Daikatana project that lead
to Romero and Hall forming the scaled-down Monkeystone, and describes how the
class will focus on creating gameplay, adding: "they'll mostly stay away
from formal instruction on how to create and run a game development company."
