Out of the Blue

Happy birthday WalterEgo, as today is my baby brother's birthday (I'll invoke the baby part just to make myself feel younger about the proposition). Today I found out I should actually be jealous of the date of his birthday, as I learned it is also the birthday of the James Bond movie franchise, since Dr. No was released fifty years ago today. So there's that: Happy birthday bro, please have a martini on my tab to celebrate, shaken, not stirred.

R.I.P.: Rest in Peace Seung-Hyun “Go)Space” Park.

And the Beastie Boys are doing a fundraiser to help generate funds for Adam Yauch Park. Too bad the watches are sold out because they're definitely fresher than any Gucci watch!

Cutter, did you hear about this? Can't wait...

Sounds good - I'd be interested in that as well.

I got a copy of Paul's Boutique recently, it has so many samples, references and layers of sound it takes me like an hour just to listen to one song...

That's my favorite album of theirs, hands down. If you're interested in the story behind the making of the album, I found this book very entertaining. It doesn't cover every sample, but it does mention a few and has links to a few web sites that specifically cover the samples.

edit: One of the coolest discoveries I noticed in the last year was finding the guitar line from The Beatles "The End" used in the second half of The Sounds of Science.
