Sword of the Stars: The Pit and Demo Released

Kerberos Productions announces the release of Sword of the Stars: The Pit, a new dungeon-crawling RPG using the same setting as their Sword of the Stars 4X strategy games. The game debuts exclusively on GamersGate as a DRM-free download at a 10% discount for the first week, and they also have a six-level playable demo to try before you buy. Here's word:

Kerberos Productions, the makers of the Sword of the Stars series of 4X strategy titles, have today released their first science fiction role-playing game for PC. Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a fun, fast, light-hearted RPG in the tradition of Rogue and other old school dungeon-diving games. Set in the popular Sword of the Stars universe, the game offers a rich science fiction backdrop and sharp, modern gameplay. The game’s turn-based mechanics and playful art style are suitable to a wide audience.

It has a demo, people. Judging from the demo, it's sort of a sci-fi, streamlined version of Dungeons of Dredmor, with more tactical combat and a better "flow" to it. I liked the demo enough to consider buying it. For around $5, it would be an instant buy, but $10 still has me somewhat undecided. Seriously, though, try the demo. It won't hurt.
