The promised free trial edition of War of the Roses is now live on Steam as a permanent demo for Fatshark's multiplayer melee combat game. Paradox Interactive offers instructions on how to participate, and sends along the following outline of how this differs from the full version of the game:
- Four base classes to play with: Footman, Guardsman, Longbowman, and Footknight
- Trial users play with consumers who own the full game as well as other trial users
- Only default weapons and armor available
- Two game modes: Team Deathmatch and Conquest (a static King of the Hill with multiple capture points)
- All maps playable
- In-game currency used for unlocks can be accrued but not spent, but if the game is purchased then the accrued currency can be used for unlocks

I'm having a blast with Chivalry, bought it during the Steam half off sale thinking I'd play it an hour here and there...and have played it nonstop since the day I bought it. I rotate between all game modes, but have gotten pretty decent at dueling, winning 3 out of 4 duels. I'm starting to get suspicious though when I see people who are like 800-20, makes me think cheating is a little more prevalent than they would like to admit. Still a fun game though, definitely plan to keep playing.
I would check this game out, but just haven't heard anything good about it. |
