The annoyances of Steam is what I mean, what you mention and others. Not indicating on the list of games (left side) the version number of the games. Not being able to select the install source.

Yes, we've gone back to the days of the consoles in the 90s. But today this is only possible because the companies behind them can lose so much money with them and still produce them. Technology grows much faster than it did in the 90s (I would think anyway), but the consoles do not correlate with advances in hardware compared to what the PCs do, or the rate that PCs do, and so yes the games we get are lame ports of console versions after 4 years maybe.

Although when the X360 came out (2005?) (and I'm not sure about the PS3), it's CPU from IBM I think was quite a bit better than what was on PC at the time. 3GHz 3 cores each capable of handling 2 threads at the same time. And I think the PC reached this point in 2008/2009 maybe.

I didn't know that consoles have made gaming the #1 entertainment industry, more than adult entertainment? Yes, they do appeal to more people than PCs.
