Out of the Blue

We had a surprise this morning, as we got hit by a snow storm overnight. I think it was a surprise at least, I don't actually pay that much attention to the weather. The good news for me was that MrsBlue needed to get such an early start that it was impractical for me to shovel us out in the pre-dawn darkness, so she took a taxi, allowing me to get to clearing our snow in a more leisurely manner.

While I definitely see the argument that the teacher's ability to control the classroom is compromised the basis of hiring or firing a teacher based on a previous job that was not illegal is a line I am not sure I want anything having to do with the State or Federal government crossing. Hypothetical: If a teacher who is a woman has a twin sister that does porn...can the teacher be fired? Theoretically her ability to control the classroom would be just as compromised right? We already make it pretty hard for people with a criminal record to progress very far in communities because of the stigma attached to having been in prison or committing a crime. I am not saying that is necessarily unfair, I am just saying that if we start doing the same thing with a subjective moral compass enforced by that same court system...it is a slippery slope.
