Microsoft has sold 70 million Xbox 360s, the number of which that are online is unknown. They claimed 25 million paying Live subscribers. Steam has 50 million unique, active accounts. They are very comparable in size and on the same playing field. Steam also has more overall functionality than Xbox Live. No one eats alone either, its very easy to find games and friends thanks to the community and groups.
